This
unfortunate gentleman was the subject of some truly merciless photomanipulation
to appear on the invites for his 50th birthday celebration. The original
photograph was scanned into Adobe Photoshop 4.0 and susequently savaged
in the space of about two hours each. This is the original scan. |

The
aging effect was produced mainly with the dodge, burn and airbrush tools.
Fortunately, due to the fact that he's quite a good looking chappie, he's
ended up bearing a remarkable resemblance to Sean Connery so he wasn't
too put out. |

These
effects were achieved using Photoshop's distortion filters, primarily the
'pinch', 'spherise' and the 'distort' features. |

Meet
Derek the Dragon, cult hero and host of the Finnegan
Consultancy Group web site (fluffy Dereks should be hitting the shops
in time for Christmas so start queuing now). Derek was originally one of
the children's play area Hallowe'en characters. This was drawn this in
Abobe Illustrator and animated in GifBuilder. |
